Unwrapping the Highs and Hellos of 2024 with our Greatest Hits

Spotify’s annual creative data visualization of user behavior is a masterclass in connecting the dots from data points to insights – data storytelling using NLP, anomaly detection, sequence modeling, clustering, filtering, and the best data visualization techniques… And we approve! For our year-end issue of AI of the Tiger, we’re taking a leaf out of Spotify’s book to curate ‘playlists’ of our own – unraveling complex topics and showcasing the remarkable strides that AI-powered tech has made faster than you can say ChatGPT. From KOL identification in pharma with AI, and addressing data scarcity with tabular synthetic data to GenAI-driven personalized promotions for retail, and maintainability and security with Microsoft Fabric, we’ve covered a lot of ground.

“And with that, the 2024 season comes to an end…”

If you could wrap up your year into your own #Wrapped, what would it look like?

For 7,047 people – it was saving the Periodic Table playlist.

For one person – it was listening to Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas’ right from July.

And for 4,732 people – it was listening to the Coding playlist on repeat.

In December 2016, streaming giant Spotify unveiled a new campaign that forever changed how we visualize data. Spotify Wrapped didn’t just show numbers – it was data storytelling at its finest, combining user data and user insights to craft heroes of the everyman listening to their favorite tunes, and shared them in relatable, funny and quirky ways that made for a memorable campaign.
Fast forward to 2024, it’s that time of the year – as our consumption of data increases, and with new tools to help us gather insights so many streaming platforms, eCommerce chains and, of course, yours truly have jumped on to the data visualization bandwagon, playing connect-the-dots with data.

From 2016 to today, one thing remains constant for Spotify as well as for all other organizations seeking to unearth meaningful stories and user insights out of that data – Data Quality matters. As we continue to forge ahead and introduce new buzzwords into our playlist from GenAI and Agentic AI to spatial computing and disinformation security, let’s look back, because we’ll only know how far we can go, when we realize how far we’ve come.

So in this year-end version of AI of the Tiger, we’re unwrapping the highs and hellos of 2024 – the stories that celebrate the best of the people and the technology that we love.

We’ve all been there, and the key is to just take that first plunge anyway. Like Agentic AI breaks down complex workflows into smaller tasks for easy execution, we also start small to be better. Our 2024 video collection is a roundup of the insights we’ve gained from diving deeper after that initial plunge.

And with that, we close out 2024. It’s been a year of discovery, growth, and plenty of data-driven moments. We’ve learned, we’ve innovated, and we’ve had a lot of fun along the way. So, as we look ahead, AI of the Tiger says “Goodbye” to 2024 and “Hello, hello, hello” to 2025— let’s see where the next chapter takes us.
