In our previous blog post, we outlined the differences in movie preferences of various car owners – well, turns out their music playlists are likely to be different too. Looking for statistically significant associations in social media, analysing data from thousands of people, we noticed that owners of different car brands had marked differences in music preferences as well.
Toyota : Country artistes such as Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum etc.
Ford : Rock and Heavy metal bands like AC/DC, Metallica, Linkin Park etc.
Volkswagen : Pop stars like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga etc.
This is not just trivia, but savvy marketers can leverage such data.
§ Targeting consumers and designing online and offline marketing programs.
§ Enhance customer engagement by incorporating personalized content in the product-specific marketing messages
§ Though by no means a sole criterion, social media-based insights mirror the most recent consumer perceptions and can serve as a useful validation when signing off key music sponsorships or celebrity endorsements.
To some marketers, this may sound like “music”!
